Iran's Vice President for Women and Family Affairs Ensiyeh Khazali and Kuwait's Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, Sheikh Feras Saud Al-Malik Al-Sabah met in New York on Friday on the sidelines of the 68th meeting of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women.
Underlining the role of family in the national and international structures, the Iranian vice president noted that a document on family affairs is being drafted in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Khazali referred to Iranian women contributing to social activities, noting that 60% of Iranian teachers are women, and the women account for 40% of Iranian faculty members, 40% of specialist doctors and 60% of the entrance to Iranian universities.
The Kuwaiti minister, for his part, said that empowerment of women and families is one of the main goals of his government which can provide a good chance for further interaction between Kuwait City and Tehran.
He also said that the number of Kuwaiti women active in different occupations is increasing and they are now excessively employed as government employees, senior managers at the government or private sector, with a large number of whom being university students.
